## Industry Overview

HVAC and refrigeration systems depend on metals that efficiently transfer heat while resisting corrosion from refrigerants, condensation, and outdoor exposure. Copper tube and pipe remain the standard for refrigerant lines, while aluminum coil and sheet are used for fins, housings, and lightweight ductwork.

## Key Requirements

### Thermal Conductivity

Maximum heat transfer efficiency requires copper for primary circuits and aluminum for secondary surfaces.

### Refrigerant Compatibility

Alloys must be compatible with R-410A, R-134a, CO₂, and emerging low-GWP refrigerants without degradation.

### Formability

Tube bending, fin stamping, and header forming require ductile alloys with tight bend radii.

### Brazability
